Applied Research
Ideas become more useful when tested.
Experiments, prototypes, tooling, and technical investigation — the work of finding out rather than assuming.
On status
Each project below carries its actual status. Conceptual means designed and specified but not built. Ongoing means active work with results not yet settled. Published means the output is available and can be examined.
We would rather publish an honest label than an impressive one. Where a project is conceptual, it is described as a question worth answering, not a capability on offer.
-
Measuring the Human in the Loop
A conceptual study design for establishing whether clinical override authority functions as a safeguard or as a formality. -
Cryptographic Inventory Probe
A conceptual approach to discovering where public-key cryptography is actually used across an estate, without relying on a register that does not exist. -
Agent Authority Harness
A conceptual test harness for establishing what an autonomous system is actually able to do, as distinct from what it is instructed to do. -
Evidence-Producing Controls
A conceptual catalogue of control patterns that emit their own assurance artefacts, so that oversight survives the period after deployment.
Some questions are better answered by building.
If you have a question where a small prototype would settle the argument, that is work we are glad to take on.
